Richard
joined the Livingston Post Office on September 1, 1973. Richard began his union activist career as the secretary for Branch
624, Orange, New Jersey. He was familiar with the responsibilties and the importance of being a union officer, after watching
his father rise through the ranks of the NALC, eventually serving as NALC Secretary Treasurer in Washington D.C.
In
1994, Richard was appointed by Tony Massa to the Executive Board of the New Jersey State Association of Letter Carriers. He
was very involved in the State Association. Richard was elected to the office of Vice President, after the retirement of Tony
Massa.
Richard continues to fight for postal reform in the halls of Congress in his
role as President of the NJSALC. Richard actively speaks with Senators and Congressional Representatives, informing the New
Jersey coalition on current bills and resolutions important to the New Jersey State Letter Carriers. Richard retired as an
active letter carrier in October of 2017, and resides with his wife Maureen, and his two children, Thomas and Casey, in Landing
, New Jersey.
